There are conditioning sprays you can buy at the pet store that you put on their coat to keep it healthy. The conditioners will stop the static. Just don't apply it too often and only when static is bad, as your cat with be cleaning herself and you don't want her to ingest too much. Or, if you want to take the most economical route, just rub a little hand lotion on your hands and then rub your cat. This will help, too. Good luck.

I am not sure what would be safe to use on your cat but allot can be done for you. Your hair is probably like mine and you could power a city on your own. I carry a can of static guard with me. I also use a heavy conditioner during the winter. This will help some but you should ask a vet what would be safe to use on your cat.

Touch the couch or something else, before petting your cat.

Or fabric sheets for your dryer work great to get rid of static. You can wipe your hands with it, or rub it on the cat first... (plus it makes everything smell good).

Lol same happens to me in the winter and it does suck. I started putting powder; lotion on my hands, which helps a lot. My cat likes it better too. Or you can touch metal before each stroke it turns the static discharge off (you’re supposed to do the same when changing or fixing your computer hard drive) Hopes this helps = P
