My 2 month old daughter is pretty dependent on her binki. There is a few times a week that she will sleep well without one, but other times she'll need one, and if it falls out of her mouth she starts crying and we have to keep on putting it back in many times throughout the night! Is there anything I could do to help her sleep better without it? or any techniques to keep it in her mouth!?

help please!!

I encourage binkys! Babies have a natural need to "suck' so binkies help with that. My little one was dependant on it until about 7 months when he just kicked it out on his own. I would try a different binky that is better shaped for her mouth. Some are too big or an awkward shape for the interior of their mouths. Also there are binky clips that are a little stiffer than the usual "string" ones (shaped like stuffed animals) that you can find that will "keep" the binky in place. Also if she is being swaddled you can afix it to where the binky clips holds on to the interior of the blanket but be close enough where she can find it with her mouth.
Dont' get me wrong, there were times at night when I was hating that damn binky but if it helps soothe them..why not.

And dont encourage finger sucking either just to get away from the falling out binky. Think about it, you can get away from a binky but you can get away from their own thumbs!!

Give it a few more weeks and she will be playing with her hands alot more and sticking them in her mouth most likely, if not what I do when mine keeps dropping hers is I was it off with some nice cold water and she likes to take the binki then and she passes right back out.

Good luck!

I had the same problem. During the day, I started putting my son's fingers in his mouth. After a while, he began doing it on his own. Then eventually during the night when his pacifier would fall out of his mouth, he would just stick his fingers in his mouth. Or if you can stomach it, just let her cry it out and she will eventually learn to put herself to sleep without her pacifier.

I thank my lucky stars that neither of my kids wanted a pacifier...but got stuck with a thumb sucker.. (what can you do right?)
Hopefully soon your little one will find her hands..if she can't find her pacifier, she will revert to sucking on her hand. I can't say that I know of any way to keep it in her mouth (that is safe anyway) so I think you are either going to have to ride it out and keep getting up to give it to her, or take it away completely and ride that out until she finds her hands.
Good Luck to you.
