if you mean you deleted it in windows, then it probably is in the recycle bin, see that trash bin looking icon in your desktop? that's the recycle bin.. just double click it and you could find it there. if you delete it in the recycle bin then it is totally deleted. (this is for security purposes if you accidentally erased a file). if you shift+deleted it, then it's probably gone!

The data doesn't go anywhere. It's just it's no longer recorded as existing. It's still there on your hard disk and can therefore be recovered, but the record pointing to its existence is erased.
As the people said above, the first place it goes is the recycle bin, a special folder on your PC allowing you a second chance to recover something you deleted fairly easily. Then when you empty the recycle bin the data's record is deleted. But as said, it still exists fully intact until its overwritten by another file (which can happen at any time).

an e-mail goes to your trash bin, a folder or icon goes to your recycle bin and system folders just disappear. But, the information is never totally erased until it is over written by another file or program.
If you're trying to get a deleted file back, try one of the data recovery programs available a download.com (some work, some don't - depending on how long a go you deleted it and what type of file is was).

Do you mean when you right click a file, selected delete then click yes?
Well it goes in the Recycle Bin. Once you delete it from there, theres no way to get it back unless you hire a data recovery expert.

well, after the first delete, the data is temporarily stored in the recycle bin, but then you can delete it more and the working data is removed from your comp, except for a very well hidden imprint that is usually only found by expert techies who really want to know what you had there...also, this imprint is usually written over with new data, which makes it even harder to pull out

it goes up to data heaven....
really though, the data is actully still there and will be there until that space is overritten but other data, deleting the file simply removes the file from the directory of files on the drive. this is wy in some caes you can undelete a file. even if you enpty the recycle bin, it;s still there. it'll be there untill new data is writen over that space...
