what pentium.......1, 2.......would be best?

Check with the maker of your motherboard and find out what the fastest pentimum processor it will support is then start looking online for one.

Unless your motherboard supports a wide range of CPUs. Then it wouldn't be possible to upgrade processor without upgrading motherboard. At which point it'd be cheaper to buy a new PC.

It depends on how may GHZ does your motherboard can handle. But if I were you I will shift to AMD processors there are much better if you are into games but you need to change also your motherboard. Try to search on the web for different prices of processors and their performance.

yuo should be able to get a p3 for that. probably 1 ghz or more.
