Certainly. Most of my wardrobe comes from the Salvation Army and similar stores. I'm proud that I do so much shopping at such places. It shows that I can not only find good deals, but that I am supporting some worth-while causes.

I am really lucky and have picked up some great clothes from charity shops. If I get a compliment and they ask where I got it, I love to see the expression on their face when I tell them how little I paid for it and where from!

Always ... why not ?
and what's more, i am not ashamed to admit when I buy from a jumble sale either (Gasp, Shock, Horror !!!)
If I like it and cannot afford it elsewhere, I'd rather buy it and have it than rack up loads of debt on a credit card by buying new like a lot of peeps would.
If anyone looked down on me when I told them where I got something, then I would seriously ask myself if this is the sort of person I would want to be around.

Shame?? Are you real? Anyone with a full complement of brain cells was doing their shopping at Aldi etc long before the financial crisis. It's only the brain dead who think it's clever to spend their money at the more expensive stores. Omstars: The opening line to your question was; "Has the financial burden eliminated the SHAME of going to Aldi, Lidl or charity shops?

I have never heard of case in which the purchaser of items from a charity shop was forced to reveal the source of his or her purchase.

I keep it hidden the only thing I ever brought from a charity shop was a dress for a play I was in, But I just told people that I found it in the back of my wardrobe.

If your friends will think less of you for shopping at a charity store - perhaps they are too shallow. I always say honestly where I got the item from.

Heck yes!
I buy from Wal-Mart (some people frown upon that) and other places that aren't considered "classie." When you tell them you got them from somewhere less expensive, they are amazed.
Your worth isn't held in the amount of money you pay for your clothes or the brands you wear. People need to realize that.

I tell people because they are awesome stores to shop in. I have clothes from Eddie Bauer, Old Navy, American Eagle and the Gap in my closet from those stores, and I paid a fraction of hte price for them. I also donate my old clothing to places like that because the sale of them helps needy people.
