Just wondering, I looked at some used F430s on Yahoo cars and it seems to me there more expensive then the MSRP. How come?

Most 430's are on a six-month, eight-month or even year-long backorder from the factory. The fact that they are the latest body style, limited production, and the wait for a new one is so long means they're in very high demand. EVERY new one is being sold above MSRP. If you want to be on the "short list" for ordering, you'll be paying at least $15k extra for the privilege.

Since the used F430's are almost all low milers, most people care not to wait in line and will pay almost any price to have one. The ones you've seen for sale are ACTUALLY going for fair market value, since dealers are getting their asking prices.

Note that the outrageous prices are mostly dealers and/or private parties knowing they can charge that amount for the car. It's a "flip" scam the licensed Ferrari dealers have been having to deal with of late.

For cars being sold reasonably, the owners are simply asking what they paid for the car--fair, I suppose, since they don't drive them much.

The F430's value is going to drop like a stone in about three years, though. Ferrari or no, they will devalue with age and mileage. But the ownership experience is probably worth it. :)

Road and Track did a comparsion test a few months ago and the F430 beat the 911 turbo. Now there are upgraded versions the Ferrari F430 Scudaria and the Porsche GT2, I don't know who will win that one..

Rarity and desirability drive the used prices, not what the manufacturer originally asked for it. Think of a completely restored Model T Ford price today compared to what Henry Ford was asking for them then.
