I look upon the term as outdated rubbish, that has no place in a modern "enlightened" society.

Once mankind has mixed sufficiently to give us all the same coloured skin, what will we use to segregate people? The degree of epicanthal folds, or the colour of our eyes? The shape of our skulls?

Half-caste is a term whose time has long gone. And may it remain decently buried!

YAY Sookie, it quite is Wednesday! i could define the term musician as somebody who composes music in some sturdy vogue; which potential they make contributions to the writing potential of the two the lyrics and the quite music. often times I used to coach flop on no remember if or not I seen a singer who does not play an tool a musician, yet i think of that relies upon on how musically in contact that distinctive individual is together with his introduction. If the guy takes each and every of the music of which has been exceeded to him, then no, that's not a musician. Now somebody who exhibits involvement, dedication and contribution, it quite is a real musician. i assume an much less puzzling thank you to place it quite is via saying, for my section, a musician is somebody who has an ear for music. not honestly everyone has the comparable variety of musical understanding, the comparable as not honestly everyone produces the comparable variety of music. having the flexibility to examine the guy and sense his or her skills radiate is best.

Half cast is a term that defines a half breed child you don`t get chimps sleeping with gorillas but humans seem very free with there sexuality especially white women they seem willing to go with anything. You do not find this in all country`s in china they look chinese so is the willingness for white women to sleep with the wrong kind a sign the white race will eventually be bred out

In the UK its a child born to parents of different races;ie; 1 black the other white.
You don't often hear it used nowadays they are usually known as mixed race kids.
Personally I wouldn't use it, but then I don't think anyone should be labelled as anything

Darwin put the idea of race into peoples heads and to say that a person is half caste is wrong. any person is a whole human no matter what. No race differings in humans, we are diff from the dog race, diff from the elephant race. diff from the worm race. diff from the rat race. diff from the monkey race.

I don't know...it's kind of offensive, but eh, it doesn't really bother me, and I'm mixed with black and white (50/50, lol cuz I know a lot of people on here aren't truly mixed like that).

I don't really get treated any differently from any one else (I don't think) so none of these terms like "mulatto" which is supposed to be offensive, doesn't bother me at all.

I tihnk it depends on the person though. :-)

I first came across this in old American cowboy films. The "cowboys" would call the American Indians "half breeds" or "half castes" when they were half white and half Indian.

This is now totally unacceptable as it was meant in a derogatory way.

What is wrong in being what we now call "of mixed ethnicity"

Being Hindu, half-caste means one who is born of parents of two separate castes. People tend to look down upon that in India, but I still don't see why. We're all humans, it really doesn't matter what someone's genetic, ethnic, or caste makeup is.

As others have said, its of Indian origin, but it seems to be used to mean anyone of mixed race, and those mixed race people I love don't like it, so I don't use it. Its not a huge loss to my vocab!!!!!

half-caste is seen as an offensive term nowadays, lots of people will claim its because of the meaning of the word and its connotations, but its just because of the way people used it. its the same with the words 'black', 'negro' and 'coloured' they aren't offensive in their definitions, its just that people used them in a derogatory way, and now people say 'african american' to avoid associations with the racists who used the other words.

racists should be shamed, not the words they use.
