Sounds like a crazy control freak teacher to me. Tell her to mind her business and if she doesn't talk to the principle.

The teacher is out of line. It would be okay if she had simply made a friendly suggestion and left it at that But repeated efforts amount to pressuring your daughter (at the very least). I would go to the teacher and suggest (nicely) that she stop because it is making your daughter feel uncomfortable, or that you want her to feel able to make her own decision, or whatever. If the teacher complies, fine. If she doesn't, file a formal ( written) complaint with the school administration and school board-and switch from asking to demanding that the teacher stop her harrassment (which is what this is, legally).

Is that a rule for the school? I am an educator and that doesn't make sense. You should speak to the teacher in a nice calm way asking her the reason. If she tells you some crazy answer, you need to go to her boss.

Call the school, you daughter has the right to wear one ponytail the teacher has no business telling her how to wear her hair. Don 't let this go on.

Your daughter can where her hair anyway she wants as long as it doesn't become a distraction to the classroom setting.

I think you need to talk to the teacher - that behavior sounds bizarre.
Good Luck!!!
