If this was the first time he had left the crisp packets all over the place and refused to pick them up then, yes, I think you did over react just a tad.
But, hey!! If he was a serial offender and you warned him - then you definitely did the right thing. I love it!!!
My husband used to leave the TV guide next to the loo in the bathroom. I told him repeatedly not to do it, until one day my patience snapped and I told him the next time I found the TV guide next to the loo I'd tear it up.
Guess what I did...
Guess what has never since been left next to the loo...

The wage of War to do what you did takes in account the alternatives not considered.
In your mind you did the right thing, but in his mind he may look at what point would've you not burned anything and use counter measures instead?
When you are frustrated about a situation that bothers you and you choose an act to make a change and it works then you have successfully solved a problem; However, there can be lasting effects of your actions that may one day rise up against you on your own property.
The best solution was not to burn anything, but it was your choice.
You have to look deeper into why your husband failed to acknowledge your requests and that was the most important element to surprise him with.
Reverse psychology works too!
Keep in mind that you marry for better or worse and that was not the worse it could've been better.

That is great!
There was no need for him to get angry over it. If he can't get a laugh out of that then maybe he needs to get a sense of humor.
I'm sorry but i think you were justified. It was a harmless joke and from now on he will think about how he should not leave the wrappers everywhere.
Look at it this way. It was better than having a screaming match to start with.
Snaps for creativity!!!

Bloody fantastic, you sound just like my sister she's brilliant and her husband is now super well trained and they are very happy together!!!
Look forward to hearing how you deal with the next issue and I have to say that it's a hell of a better way of doing things than having a row!

RATHER FUNNY, however I doubt it has done anything to solve your problem and he'll still do it next time just to spite you. (although he may more wary of were his work trousers are next time, time to go for his underwear)
If you want to resolve the issue I would ask him for one thing that you do that gets under his skin, talking during his favourite programs, flossing you teeth while talking to him, buying the shampoo he hates (who knows what he'll pick!) and promise you'll try to cut that bad habit out if he will try to quit one for you namely picking up after himself.
Compromise is the secret to a good relationship and Men rarely appreciate us "nagging and pushing" them to do something. In fact I know a few men who add time penalties for every time there partners asks them to do something.

My husband will keep his car SPOTLESS and everything else is pretty well all up to me .One day I got tired of putting his things away so I gathered all of his junk and shoved it all in his beloved car..it felt good to do that and he stopped being such a slob around the house. So in answer to your question I think it was 100% justified.
