Well, I am of the opinion (Yahoo! sports agrees with me and just ran an article about this recently too) that Bowden will retire first. He has already named a head coach after his retirement, he is currently putting into place things that will leave FSU in good hands after he's gone, etc. It's like he knows the end is within a season or two, and he's making sure everything is in place just in case it happens at any given moment... JoePa has made no such plans of any kind, beyond publicly stating that he a) doesn't think about it too much and is sick & tired of answering that same question, and would rather just concentrate on this year's squad, and b) that he hopes he can leave the next coach (who I think will probably be his son, jay paterno) with some "meat on the bones" (or in other words, a decent class of recruits) like Rip Engle did for him ages ago. This makes sense to me, but I am of the conspiracy theory that the two men (who are very good friends) might retire if "the series becomes even" this year or next. Currently, Bowden is leading for winningest coach of all time by ONE GAME (373-372). Also currently, PSU is doing and looks like they will be doing better than FSU for the next couple of years. So I wonder if PSU goes like, 9-3 and FSU goes 8-4 regular season (which would tie the two men) if they are going to call eachother and both agree to simultaneously retire, tied. I think that would be awesome. And hey, it could happen... Either way, both men are prime examples of what was, is, and hopefully will stay great about college football.

Bowden doesn't retire, the boosters FORCE HIM OUT. Paterno WILLINGLY retires first. Bowden WILL be the first out though, unless Paterno's injury is more serious then it seemed.

Why must you ask the same damn question in 3 different ways?

Paterno is in better shape as far as the team, but Bowden is in better shape as far as his health...
