there is a list on babycenter.com but they usually tell you to take alot more than you will actually need
A long night gown and robe (if you dont want to use the hospital gowns) that opens in the front for quick in and out boob time.
2 pairs of socks
Slippers
Toothbrush/paste
hair brush and bands/clips to tie up hair
lotion for hubby to rub on you to relax
magazines or headphones if you feel it may be a long wait
They usually provide shampoo and soap for the day after shower but it is usually icky hospital kind (take your own)
Cameras (camcorder, digital, 35mm)
Babys first outfit (remember they may be small so take a preemie one just incase)
car seat of course
pillow (if preferred)
6 month maternity clothing (your belly will be about that size so the clothes you came in with wont fit)
shoes
nursing bra (big definately!)
You will be given a lovely pair of mesh panties lined with a fabulous adult like diaper to soak up all that extra fluid and blood that will be release from your uterus "deflating" so you dont need to worry about panties. You will bleed for roughly 4-6 weeks. But you will only need the grandma diapers for about a week.
make-up(for pictures)
a pacifier that you prefer. (some hospitals give them horrible ones- I prefer the more mouth shaped ones)
if you dont want them to have a pacifier --TELL THEM!!!
A breastfeeding pillow (boppy, my breastfriend pillow, etc) (some of the hospitals just use the head pillows but we all know that pillows are WAY different than Breastfeeding pillows.)
My husband took an air mattress and blankets since the fold out bed was WAY too small for him (he is 6'7) . He just used a quick air pump and slept great on the floor next to me. The nurses were a bit shocked but they got over it after they realized how tall he was. find out if the extra bed situation is up to par for your hubby
Basically like you are going out of town and are only going to be gone a few nights (and only given a single bed). You are welcome to tour the hospital and ask questions prior.
Good Luck!
Oh... and a focal point. During pushing or contractions you may need something to focus on. I took a bear that had my soon to be sons name on the overalls. The nurses helped my husband duck tape it at eye level to the TV set (not on). Some people take pictures of their wedding day or other kids.

Bring as little as possible. Make sure you bring (for yourself) a toothbrush/toothpaste, a robe & slippers or slipper socks, your personal hygeine needs (don't forget to bring a package of heavy absorbancy pads- you'll be bleeding heavily), and I always preferred sweatpants/loungepants and a sweatshirt to go home in. For the baby, make sure you have your carseat, one outfit should be sufficient (they usually provide onesies for the baby to wear during your stay at the hospital), socks, a cap (the hospital usually provides one, but just in case), and a bunting to bring the baby home in. A warm blanket to cover the baby if it's cold out would be good. You don't want to bring much if you can help it. I ended up bringing flowers and baby gifts home besides what I already had brought for myself...what a pain! The most important thing is that you have everything you need at home when you're released. Good luck and congrats!

I am in the same boat due April 9th, but could go early. I just packed my bag and I packed:
First outfit for baby
some onesies just in case
a blanket in case its cold
for me I packed:
pads in case I don't like the hospitals
travel size shampoo, toothpaste, and deodorant
some comfy pj's
going home sweats :)
my own pillow
camera
hair brush
then any entertainment you might want was suggested to me, but I figure my baby and visitors will be enough.
Hope I helped
You can also go to WebMD and they have a list of suggestions as I am sure some other websites do too.

They always say to bring a suitcase- not sure why because I did not use anything I brought. Actually some of the things I did bring were lost because of the nurses and so many people coming in and out. I say pretty much bring your fav pillow. One change of clothing for you. Blankets and hats and a onsie for the baby, They give you diapers, wipes and all that stuff. And most important thing a toothbrush!! Thats pretty much it. You wont be able to concentrate on reading or chewing gum or getting a massage. Trust me! Maybe bring an old shirt or night gown- not your fave it will get ruined!!! Good luck to you and your baby.
