when ever my laptop plays DVD's,the picture and sound is choppy, can anyone tell me how to stop this?

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
i found that when using different programs, the quality varies, for example:

Acer Arcade is rubbish when playing DVDs....
on the other hand Power DVD plays them just fine...

Also, like jimjimith said, you may need to download some codecs...

search the web... its a wonderful place- :P

whoah hold ur horses ignore these costly answers before me u probably just need a different dvd player or some codecs if ur not using vlc player do it plays everything ace and just download an xp codec pack just type it in google with both the codec pack and vlc player dvd should ply fine if not then do the costly options

sounds like dvd reader needs cleaning or overhaul .refrain from using it untill checked out by techie .Always use good quailty discs
your dvd should support 16x in order to work properly hope this helps.
