I have just found out that I do not have a suitable graphics card to run some of the latest games. Is it possible to install an ATI X800 series graphics card myself and how hard/easy is it to do?

Yes but if you are not experienced or with somebody who KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING you can kill your PC or card with a static shock.... or just plain damage it.

With a laptop, and the limited space available inside the case, it is probably a graphics adapter (ie, built onto the motherboard), rather than a plug-in graphics card.

I have 22 years of experience rummaging around inside personal computers but even I would be wondering if it might be time to pension the old one off and invest in a newer, suitably specified one, especially as it would now come with Windows Vista which needs a pretty well-specified graphics sub-system itself.

hi mustafa hardin, nicely, yeah yet right it incredibly is a sturdy question that's like do you? enable me to describe i continually use the assumption to construct a laptop you need to use a magnifiing glass because of the fact the aspects are so small that's what the manufacturers use to construct laptops. so advantageous you're able to do it yet do you prefer to and allow me to respond to that question for you and the respond is not any. what i prefer to propose is to take your computing device to a working laptop or computing device repairman and tell him what you like him to do he will do it for you no muss or fuss or maybe cuss. yet now once I take my computing device to a working laptop or computing device repairman i think of of improve so i'd additionally point out which you quite prefer him to place in 4gb of latest ram the rationalization why is that ram is cheap this 300 and sixty 5 days and the 2d reason is that believe me you would be satisfied you probably did it will make your computing device run lots swifter and smoother. that's killer and no count in case you're doing all your homework or finding the international-extensive-information superhighway you will thank me for having him do this for you. sturdy success wish i became into effective to you

I would say, its probably not worth it,
Doing much work at all, outside of adding memory changing the hard drive, on a laptop is more trouble than its worth, I hate to sound like a naysayer, just have been there, and done that..

depends on what laptop you have. if you have a laptop that has a pci-express card slot then you could install a new card, but if you install it yourself you will have to open the laptop. and by opening the laptop you will lose its warranty.
