No, they usually go on to promote what ever they are on, like a show, amovie, or a product they're selling.

Think of it as free publicity. I'm on Jay Leno, millions of people see me, they think, "oh, he was on Jay Leno, he must be important" and boom, whatever film I was in, or clothing line I run or whatever gets a ton of publicity, and Jay Leno gets that much more ratings

I was always told yes. It is like any performance. They have to get paid scale because they are on camera and it is not the news. Some may offer to wave the fee because they want to be on the show but the ones that are asked to be on the show need to be paid for tax, copyright, and union purposes.

I would guess no. 9 times out of 10 they're only there to promote a new movie, book, show, whatever.
And the everyday, average people that are brought on get to be on national TV.

Just normal people (like the bird sound contest winners) or celebs?
Normal people no, but I have heard that certain celebs get some sort of compensation or perks.

I don't think so b.c when someone is on they are usually releasing a new movie or album so it's free publicity for them.
I'm not sure though.

They are there to gain publicity for their movie or book. Its in their contract to do interviews and such when they sign up for the movie.

Negative, actors and entertainers have an agenda when they appear and that is to promote their latest movie, song or themselves.
