What do you think of the fact that the gay rights movement has become nothing but a back-and-forth game of "bait bite sue" for the past 40 years? I think it's pretty tedious, to be honest, and I for one am not going to participate anymore. I have absolutely no idea what makes me gay, and to be honest, I could care less. Maybe it doesn't make sense; maybe it isn't perfectly logical. THE WORLD isn't perfectly logical. But it's who I am, and contrary to popular belief, no amount of religion or therapy or boot camp is going to beat it out of me. So it all boils down to "take it or leave it; honestly I don't give a ****". So why do so many gays hold themselves accountable to the religious right?

forester814, I'm not saying I'm not worthy of personhood; quite the opposite. I'm saying the religious right may question my personhood all they want, but it doesn't really change anything.

I agree with all of you, but I personally feel that all the arguments of the religious right that the justifications of homosexuality is exactly mirrored by bestiality, incest, and polygamy through similar reasoning are only valid if you make them! If we all just say, "We don't need justification of any sort", they will be the ones to look like obsessive whack jobs!

My friend, the last 40 years of the gay rights movement has been nothing but steady progress for our side!

We have moved from hiding in the shadows to prime time TV.

We have moved from the days of criminal sodomy to state-sanctioned gay marriage and civil unions.

In just 40 years? That is AMAZING progress!

There is no debate. America does not have a state-sanctioned religion. There is no Constitutional basis for treating gay people any differently than anyone else.

The religious right is simply noise. A collection of narrowminded, frightened people who are trying to cling to this notion of "the good old days" that never actually existed in the first place.

And as time goes on, their power over us is clearly diminishing.

I get down about the state of the debate at times too, my friend, but giving in and agreeing we are not as worthy of personhood as the next person? Unthinkable.

Stay strong. We are nearing the end of this fight, and we are going to win.

Interesting thinking banana. I understand your point. But for me the issue is a little bit more than just leave me alone and I will leave you alone. My partner is from Colombia, I am from the US. We are apart right now because the US will not let him come here legally. My only options are to move to Colombia, a country filled with war and danger. Or we can be apart. And that is why I will continue the struggle. I have found my partner and I will continue to fight until we can be together.

Holding myself accountable to the religious right is the only way to promote change in this country. We can not let a few people who have religious beliefs to run a country founded on freedom; which was STARTED on a basis of religious freedoms! They are trying to do EXACTLY what the founding fathers feared. As I like to say, if you want to live in a religious state, move to Iran!

I'm kind of new to the politics aspect, but personally I could care less about what anyone thinks of my sexuality. When I get pissed off, I'm really just faking it, like most of the orgasms the straights have.

I try not to get drawn into "moral debates" for that very reason, but ultimately I think the LEGAL debate not only is "worth" having, but HAS to happen. Or, we could go back to your very existence essentially being classified as illegal.
