I'm starting an online business for luxury soft furnishings but would welcome any ideas for what the website should do for the customer eg what should the customer experience to ensure they are satsified with the experience of visiting my website?

Obviously, the website must be user-friendly. The user should not have to click many times before s/he can buy the product. There should be a simple customer info. form which asks basic contact and payment info. It should have a lot of pictures (of each product), a "Contact Us" and "About the Company" page. There should be a shopping cart, merchant account - so that you can charge credit cards over the Web. And don't forget the "Returns Policy" page - everybody wants to know about a company's returns policy before they buy.
