What is the biggest hard drive you can have with Windows 98?

Win98 uses the FAT32 file system, and the largest addressable disc volume in FAT32 is 8TB, with a maximum of 4GB on any one single file. However, for reasons never really explained, the disc fomatting tools in Win98 won't deal with anything bigger than 32GB, although there are third party tools that work around that apparently needless limitation.

You can have any size HD, but I believe 32mb is the largest partition size you can have with 98SE.

Your BIOS may also have an issue, but that can often be solved with third-party boot partition software from the drive maker.

it depends on how much hard drive space your BIOS can handle how old is the computer if you get a 40 gig or a 60 gig you should be fine
