I've been asked to sell some of my grandad's rare first edition books over the internet and don't know how to go about it to get a good price for them! i don't really think eBay is the best place because there isn't the market for that sort of thing and people on there are just looking for complete bargains.. any suggestions as to where to start selling?
thanks

It's a bit of a gamble selling anything on eBay as you may or may not get a good price for what you're selling, books are no exception to this. If you take a look at AbeBooks http://www.abebooks.co.uk/ you can put the book you're selling into the search and see what book dealers are selling that particular book for. You can then list that book on eBay, and put a reserve on it. Alternatively you could look for a dealer on the AbeBooks site and contact them directly.

Good Luck

Id say ebay would be the best place, people are looking for deals yes, but when it comes to rare stuff, people will pay a good price. And surprisingly, you can sell anything on ebay, its the market for everything. Its like the worlds largest yard sale.

Get on the web and search for Rare Books. Find a company and email them giving them details of the information you would like. List some of the books. They will give you good advice and might even visit you to look over them. Thereafter they may offer a price or advise where to go to sell them to your advantage.

Ebay

Craigslist? I've seen some books there. In most online sites, the profits go to eBay (or Amazon or whatever), the post office, and your transportation costs. A local store might give you a quarter apiece or store credit. Giving them away might win you some good will.
