I put my new poem on the fridge with a magnet, but my college buddy who stays over with me sometimes when he's kind of not sober, said this makes him feel ill. He's not gay and he's German.

What do you think about this poem on my fridge?

Title; 'Oats often overwhelms Teutonic objections'

To pools of porridge pressurized

With heat and then repeated

in poems. Why fight it?

OKay, I actually understand where your German buddy is getting at. This will sound unfashionable, but I think words like "steaming", "boiling" & "burning hot" remind Germans of the concentration camp "ovens" used to kill innocent men & women during WW2. Sorry if this is offensive, but that's what I genuinely think is the reason this haiku of yours makes him ill.

Sounds good, It just needs some more depth or feeling. Keep practicing, you're getting there. I wonder why I'm hungry for some oatmeal cookies.

Perhaps boiled oats make him sick?

If he isn't sober, I can see why he might feel it......its your house not his, and why is he your friend if he doesn't like that ur gay....sounds like he's using you for a place to stay.
