Because he was on the baddest team ever, and you know bout that guy they call Jordan. But if he only had 1 or 2 rings and maybe didnt play with Jordan. Would he still be top 50 all time?

I don't know if he'd be top 50, but Scottie would still be a great player. You would be hard pressed to find a player as versatile as Scottie Pippen; he could score, rebound, run the offense, post up, you name it Scottie could do it. His biggest weakness was his shot, it was good but not great, which is the same thing you could say for Lebron.

On top of all of that, he was a top -notch defender on the other side of the court. All of those guys you mentioned...Kobe, Lebron, Carmelo...are all good scorers and are spectacular players, but how good are they defensively? The best of the 3 would be Kobe, but when was the last time you saw him shut down a player he's guarding?

It's funny that Scottie can never escape MJ's shadow and everyone thinks MJ made him better, because I think it works the other way too. Who knows the type of player Scottie could've developed into if he didn't start out on MJ's Bulls? Think of Scottie's play during the seasons Jordan was playing baseball, multiply that by 2 and maybe we'll have an idea of what Scottie could've been.

Hey. Scottie Pippen did not put up the huge numbers and wasn't the main attraction like Kobe LeBron and Carmelo. I don't think he would be top 50 without having 6 rings. He averaged about 20 points and was an all-star. But Kobe already has 3 rings so I think he is better then Pippen. The other two will have to get at least one before I put them up there.

Kobe is better than Pippen.
Lebron will be better than Pippen.
Melo will be slightly better than Pippen.

Pippen was a good player, but not a great one. He was also a smart player. He played alongside Michael Jordan and took advantage of that. During MJ's time in chicago, he was able to make the mediocre players good, and the good players great and Pippen was one of those that used that to his advantage. And no, i don't think he would have made the top 50 without MJ. 2 good examples would be Robert Horry who has 6 rings and Michael Cooper who has 5. Neither are top 50 material but they played on good teams and did their roles well.

In the one full year Jordan was not on the Bulls, Pippen averaged 22 pts, 9 rebs, 6 asts, 3 stls. Those are phenomenal stats, considering every night he guarded the other team's best player. So Jordan took away from the fact that Pip was a GREAT player in his own right.

pip was a great player...one of the best defenders in the history of the game and a gifted point forward.

scottie had 2 chances to get a ring w/o mj...one in houston and the other in portland. he wasnt a good fit for the offense they ran with hakeem and sir charles during that time so obviously he wanted out.

i think his stay in portland really couldve cemented his legend. he and the blazers were SO close to the finals in 00'. but they choked a 15 pt lead in the final quarter of game 7 against shaq and kobe in the WCF. that showed that even though he was a little past his prime, he couldnt deliver and he was not the go to guy in the clutch.

while the 3 players u mentioned (kb,lb,and ca) are better at some things and a little worse at other things compared to pip...they are THE go to guy's on their respective teams (toss up between melo and ai now though)...scottie wanted that opportunity, but when it came, he couldnt pull through

I accept as true with u, in terms of each and everything u in basic terms stated above. additionally, theres 2 lots if a niche in protective potential between the two, in Scotties desire, and a pair of little of a niche of their offensive potential, in desire of LeBron, at this element in LeBron's profession to assert, LeBron is a extra advantageous participant than Scottie Pippen become.

if scottie were to play now in his prime i think i think he would be top 3 behind wade, kobe in that order... ppl seem to forget what he did when jordan left... in 1994 the bulls werent exactly a walk in a park... he had a mvp type season .. 22.0ppg 8.7rpg
5.6 apg .... they lost to the knicks in the semis in 7 games which they should of won cause of dumb calls..
