There are many areas in Africa that need volunteers and aide. You could visit a country that has an orphanage or village in need of volunteers. I know in Zambia there is a program where people can go and help teach English and volunteer in orphanages. I would look to go with one of these programs, so you can see both how people live in Africa as well as help people in a country that has many needs. Perhaps at the beginning or end of your trip you can take time to explore other countries around wherever you choose to make your primary stay. Many tribes and groups of people differ in Africa based on location.

First of all, you can ignore the first three answers. They suck anyway. I agree with Caribbeangal81. I am a Caribbean girl myself. You should feel so proud of who you are. I have a good friend who is from Ghana. He loves the beaches, and the rainforest. If you feel you wish to help those in need, try a mission.
