However, it seems that my luck is limited as people already know me to be shy at my school and even when i initiate conversation they let it fizzle out in minutes. I have read articles on starting conversations and having good conversations and I do practise these skills but people just don't seem to want to converse with me.

I'm 16 by the way.

Ya I know how you feel. I was very shy when I was younger and still am a little now. You just got to keep working at it. The reason you probably aren't getting into conversations with people is because you are so worried about trying to make it into a conversation so it doesn't come off as real. Don't stress it. Talk to people about your interests and theirs and before you know it you will be more comfortable. Don't push it or stress it just be yourself.

Just be yourself, well actually, not yourself, since your shy therefore the prob from the sort...
OK nevermind, just talk about something that you know you and the person you are talking are facing, If you both talk about something you have in common, or both enjoy, the ocnversation will not die out quickly, And your going to feel yourself becoming less shy around that person.
You might also want to try going to school events like Dances/football games and sorts
where a lot of people will be, and you can talk about wer you are and sorts.
:)
Well, thats what i think,
if you wanna talk just iM me,

I am a social butterfly. Just be yourself, and remember, be funny. Everyone likes a funny confident girl. Try trying out for a play or something to show you are not just the girl hiding behind her book.

Just be yourself. Talk about the things that interest you and ask them people the things they are interest in, that's a conversation right there.
