Nope! Wash them in the Dishwasher if you can, otherwise hot antibacterial dishwashing detergent. Remind kids, who are not teething, only food goes in your mouth.

I'm a toddler teacher and this is not okay. The children should be told not to put the toys in their mouth. When a toy is put in a little ones mouth you should take it away from them and put it up until you can clean them. If the children are allowed to do this germs can be spread really easily and as you know kids at daycares are sick enough as it is. So we as teachers need to do our part to help this. At the daycare I work at we have a small plastic bin we put the dirty toys in. Then sometime during the day we disinfect them and place them back in the play area. I hope this helps you.

No. I work in daycare too and when a child puts a toy in his mouth, I immediately take it away and place in our bleach water container that is on the counter. I have learned that from working there for so long (11 years). That's how kids in the room get sick because the spread of germs is easy to get.

In an environment where children can bring in all sorts of communicable diseases and spread them without that kind of help, I would say, "no, it isn't safe." In fact, it would increase the risk of spreading germs through things like fingers making contact with each other's mouths. Not to mention that some parents bring in children that should really be at home. I would strongly suggest you talk to the director of the daycare and ask how you should handle the situation.

What kind of nasty daycare do you work in! I worked in daycare centers all thru college and when kids puts toys in thier mouth as soon as they were done w the toy we placed them in a bucket out of the children's reach. Then later on the toys were placed in the dishwasher to be cleaned. I worked in 3 centers - I was always in the toddler & infant rooms and thats what was done in all of those centers!

How would you feel if it were your baby in that daycare? Now think about the answer of that question. Community care licensing has a rule where the toys are supposed to be sanitized at the end of the day.

Absolutely not! There are regulations daycares need to follow and one is to wash toys with soap and water after every child plays with it. You should report this day care immediately! These children are not being carefully taken care of.
