Listen to your mother Eastern medicine is very effective at speeding healing and strengthening the immune system to speed healing. The belief that cold foods/drinks chill the stomach and slow the process by which medicine and nutrients are absorbed is true. There are many studies that back up this tradition. Just drink room temperature beverages and warm drinks until you are healed and it will help you heal faster. Western practitioners are slow to accept non-western medicine but it is being more accepted for its wisdom and practice in better health by better living. Good Luck and listen to your mom.

Certain ingredients may effect your healing, but temperature of the drink should have no bearing on this situation.

However, just do what your mother says. It will cause you a lot less stress in the long run. Stress can inhibit healing time as well.

LOL...No, never heard of that one.
Well, lets see if I can justify that idea...
Cold drinks mildly "shock" the body. Anything that disrupts the body can change any healing efficientcy. Cold milk might be good because milk is good for bones.
Other than that...Cold drinks can't hurt you. Of course mom is still the boss.

My Mum also said the same. She said it does have some bad effect on your fractured leg. So my friend, this is from the Chinese medicial theory. It is the experience of ancient people.Trust me.

This is not true. You can drink anything you want hot or cold and it will not have any effect at all. Tell her this is what a nurse told you.
