When I had my baby shower, I appreciated small and useful things like the baby duck you put in the bath, and it has the thermometer on the bottom to let you know if the water is too hot. Also, a nose aspirator (the bulb that you can insert in the nostril and suck out the mucus if the baby has a cold). A digital thermometer is also very useful. You could buy 3-4 of these little things and stick them in a cute basket, or in the back of a toy dump-truck (since it's a boy).

I threw a baby shower for one of my best friends not too long ago. Everyone told me before hand that the secret was to go to the Dollar Tree. That is where I got my gifts for the shower and everyone thought there were way more expensive then what they really were. The Dollar Tree has cheap items that don't look it. Try there!!

I think the best gift is a necessity basket. You can but little item such as diapers, wipes, bath supplies, diaper cream, baby tylenol, etc. Or you can do a theme thype basket/present. Examples:
Bath time- buy baby shampoo/soap, lotion, towels, powder, washcloths, rubber duck etc.
Travel time- buy travel size shampoo, soap, wipes, small toy
I loved getting these types of present at my shower since I always use them
Have fun

Recieving blankets are awesome I got tons of em' and they were great. Also Cloth Diapers I did not use them as diapers but as spit rags even today I do not have an infant I use them for dusting. socks for the baby even getting her a box of diapers you go through so many it would be great to have extra. Hope these suggestions helped.

Try a baby tub, fill it with what everyone DOESN'T usually give...but is always needed:
Pack of diapers, towel & baby cloths, soaps & shampoo, powders, thermometer, baby wipes, hand mittens (prevents face scratching), nail clippers

I like to give a pretty basket with all sorts of jarred baby foods. Sometimes you can hit sales on them at the market.
