Surely it would depend on how large the cardboard area was. Too big, and you will build up a resistance, too small, and you wouldn't notice.
I think hand sized cardboard would be best and although clapping wouldn't be any more easier or more difficult, for prolonged clapping activities then it would most definately protect the delicate skin on ones hands.

not sure what you're trying to do . so with that being said , do you need the card board or would a piece of material in that color work or perhaps a brown paper bag cut to the size needed . either way i would suggest sewing it on . this could be done by hand with a needle and thread or machine sewn. this way you dint mess up the shirt and you will still have it for future wear after concert. if you're set on gluing it you could try hot glue or they make an adhesive spray that would work also. good luck , and god bless !! have fun
