if u r using xp, first try to organise all folders and big files under them. Do not have any mercy in deleting those small files, but take a backup in a CD first. Once this is done, restart the system and run the disk defragment utility, and restart.

If you have all your data files (documents, music, videos, pics, etc.) backed up and the installation CDs for all your software, you can completely reformat your hard drive. I do this about once per year and it keeps it running like new. It restores your hard drive to factory condition.

Many of the newer computers have a partition in the hard drive where you can completely reformat your hard drive without using installation CDs or DOS. In XP, it is called a "destructive system recovery" and it is a relatively simple process.

WARNING: You will lose everything so before you even try it, make sure you have all files backed up (I use an external USB hard drive) and you have the installation CDs for all your software. Good luck.

Due to privacy and security concerns, most people wish to delete their surfing history and files from their computer. It also prevents problems due to virus , spyware and increases the computer speed. Usually this is simple, but at times you can face problems. Hi. Download some free software to get rid of junk files ( CCleaner is a good one), spyware ( Spybot is a good one ) and malware ( AdAware is a good one ). Get rid of what these programs find and then defragment.
