To remove the door frame, you need a hammer and a bolster. Frames are nailed on unless someone has decided to screw it on. Just place the bolster behind the frame and bang it in with a hammer all the way up and lever it away. To replace the frame, you can buy them ready made at a builders merchant.

If you are not a D I Y man then don`t attempt it, it`s easy enough to get the old frame off, but it leaves and looks a hell of a mess, to put a new frame back on would mean packing & shimming to ensure it is even, you may also have to plaster round it if damage occured when you took the old one off. My advice is get a joiner to do it.

remove trim, both sides
use sawsall to cut out the nails/screws (run it down the outside of the jamb
remove and replace
oh yeah take the door off first

take off dore and hinges 1st
pop off trim on both sides of the dore
and then pry out the frame sides then top throw it away
a and replace with new you need to use shims
