I've noticed at my work as I walk into the building a obscenely large SUV parked in one of the handicap spots everyday. Now, this SUV is raised some 2 feet off the ground and outfitted with some sort of off road package. What bugs me is, if your so infirm that you cannot walk very far and need to use handicap parking, how does it look to drive a vehicle you need a rope to get into. Its not fitted with a lift system for wheel chair access so it just seems like BLING to impress people. What do you think?

Mighty C, as I stated in my original question, the vehicle is not fitted with a lift for wheelchair access nor is the cab large enough to allow that.

Just so I can be clear about this. The SUV is LIFTED as in modified from its original height so that it can be used to off road. Its a Chevy Avalanche so the cab is not near large enough to use is lift for a wheelchair to place the driver behind the wheel. My father was disabled and thats why it burns me so much to see this person who clearly may have a disability but not so much that they can climb into his mammoth but enough they they can't walk 50 feet to a door.

Generally I agree with you. Most people who legally possess disability plates, a sticker, or the cardboard that hangs from their rear view mirror would not be able to climb into an elevated SUV without assistance of some sort. There are exceptions though. I can't speak for every state but, hear in WI they have been handing out disability parking privileges with seemingly no thought involved. I see MANY people with disability plates who would be more than capable of getting into an elevated vehicle.
I guess you can check the vehicle for plates or stickers allowing it to be parked where it is. If you find none then you can call the cops and the fine is usually about $300. If it turns out the person who drives the SUV is actually medically certified as disabled there is nothing you can do. Be happy you still have legs than can carry you from general parking to wherever it is you are going.

As a disabled person, I find it more than annoying when I see healthy people taking up much needed parking spaces. I have a handicap placard, but I do not use it at work. I can easily park close to the building. I use hadicap spaces when I need the extra room to access my wheelchair.
However, in the interest of fairness, I do know people who look "normal" who have serious heart conditions and truly cannot walk many feet without resting. (In my state the standard is fewer than 100 feet without resting to get a handicap placard.)

I also agree that people take advantage of the handicapped spots and it is ridiculous and those people should be severely punished. However...the definitions of handicapped have greatly widened and you don't nessesarily have to be physically challenged to be handicapped. This person might be in great physical shape and just be a slow learner and that is considered handicapped enough to get a special parking sticker. I'm not saying it's right but that's the way it is.

Don't assume that just because the SUV is big and high off the ground that there is not a legitimate handicap. Illegal use of specified parking spots steams me too. Report it to the police and let them check it out.

Maybe it has a lift fitted and has to be a large vehicle to accomodate a wheel chair or other modified equipment?

here is the solution:go to any auto parts store and purchase a valve stem core removal tool, the counterman will show you how to use it,then you go let the air out of the tires and lay the valve stem core on the ground next to the flattened tire...that'll fix that jackass...or tell me where he is,maybe a friend can have a short word with him.

Just so you know I have both a stcker and a large SUV. The only reason I have the big SUV is because I can't find one bigger.
