Can you tell the difference between mucus plug and regular discharge?

I am curouse to know peoples opinion on this question. Maybe with your experiences. Also dose it always have a pink color?

I could tell the difference because my mucous plug came out in globs. Not runny or stringy like discharge. And no it's not always pink. I never had bloody show. Majority of the time, it's clear or white.

There's a big difference. Regular discharge is usually white and thick. The mucus plug is more like snot. (Gross, I know, but that's what it's like.) You can lose your mucus plug at any time, and *is not* a sign you're about to go into labor. And sometimes it can be pink, especially if you've just had an internal exam. Now if you have mucus with blood, call your doctor. It could be bloody show, which some women have when going into labor (I did).

I have had three babies. With the first I was induced and did not lose my plug. With the second (39wks), I went to the bathroom and when I wiped it was light pink on the paper and there were pink globs in the toilet. With the third(39wks), I just had a bunch of thick brown discharge, I mean a lot and very thick, I had to change underware, I know that is gross but it is true. With the second baby I lost my plug the same day I was in labor, and with the third it was a couple of days later after I lost the plug. Hope that helps!

I remember mine being a larger glob of mucus than normal. It caught my attention because it was much more. I don't remember mine having a color to it so much. That day, my dr told me I had lost the plug, so I know that is what it was.

yes... regular discharge is clear or white..... the mucus plug looks like someone blew the nose.... and they had a horrible grenn snot cold!!!! Or another way to think of it ... it'll look like someone hacked up a lung!!!

When I lost mine it was almost clear and was a like a big jello ball. It moves like jello and neither time was mine ever pink or brown.
