I'm just thinking ahead about food preparation for my husband and I. I'm guessing that I will have enough to do besides cook, so I'd like to know if anyone has any great recipes (or links to them) that are easy to freeze and will last a long time that I can start preparing now. Thanks!

ummm...how pregnant are you? are you talking about after the child is born? Let HIM do the cooking!!!! If you are talking a couple of months, i wouldn't freeze anything...no matter how well you package them, they will still have a bit of freezer burn on them and it will just be thrown out and wasted!

anyway...for the first few weeks, my hubby or if they were around, my parents did the cooking. I know in the first couple of days the close neighbors and friends will also come to see the baby and might bring some casseroles...just ask some frineds to help you with this...5 friends, 1 night a friend- we do that when someone has surgery and can't cook for awhile...it takes the burden off the spouse who is ever so thankful!

I love making pizza ahead of time and freezing them. There are some great recipes all over the place depending on what kind of crust and toppings you like. (i.e. whole wheat with lots of veggies).

I often make chili to freeze, and also pinto beans in the slow cooker with onions and sausage. Both of these are easy, and they freeze well. Lots of things in the slow cooker can be frozen like beef stew, for example.

Double whatever you are making now and freeze it.
