No. The closest I've been is having an argument with someone who's seen what happened in completely the opposite way to how I saw it, and when we've both gone round telling "our side" of the story we've come out looking like a pair of stubborn over-exaggerating idiots. Which isn't quite the same as your situation!

If you were right to say what you said, then people not believing you doesn't make it any less right and (useless as this is in practical terms) you should try to take comfort from the fact that you did the right thing.

Unless you have some sort of proof then there is nothing you can do. It's your word against the other person's, and people do tend to go with "innocent until proven guilty". Also, people like a quiet life. It may be easier to not believe you than to have to deal with the consequences of what you've said being right. This applies especially for the really big stuff like accusations of rape or abuse. If it's any consolation, mud does stick - they might not come right out and say that they believe you, but it'll be in their minds.

Unfortunately, in a mud-flinging contest it's not about how much you throw but how much sticks to you. You made the choice to expose this person, and you'll have to live with the consequences of that choice.

If you're in the right, hold your head up high and ride out the storm. Don't keep trying to convince people - you've said your piece, they've made their choice, and if you keep on you'll start to irritate everyone. Either the person will do it again somewhere/to someone else and then everyone will realise you were right, or s/he will never dare do it again because of what you said and you'll get your reward in Heaven (as my friend's Mum used to say).

If you were wrong... not about what you said, but in the sense that really you shouldn't have gone shouting about it (say you decided to blab all your best mate's secret crushes to everyone out of spite, for instance)... then you may have to swallow your pride and apologise. It's a judgment call I can't help you with since I don't know what they did, what you said and who you said it to, and what each of your motivations were.

It occurs throughout history. Consider the flat earth theorists. Who exposed them?

The bad guy is the one who profits from keeping it covered up. Unless there is no harm in it, in which case why did you bother to expose someone? What was your motive?

As long as your motive is clear to yourself, then you can justify it to yourself. It does not matter how you look to anyone else, so long as your motives are clear to yourself.

I often used to expose my breasts in public- but since gravity is beating me these days- even when I am totally plastered I try my best to keep them covered up! But going out tonight- so you never know!!

I have exposed someone when it would have had a negative effect on someone I care about. Other than that, I try to mind my own business.

No, I can keep secrets.

People are happy to pay me money for not exposing them.

Myself. Though, not for something really bad (which I haven't done), but for something, let's say eccentric and unpredictable.
