It is natural for babies to have lots of hiccups. The way I would help my son was to give him a pacifer to suck on or a quick drink of the bottle. The sucking helped the hiccups go away immediately! He was diagnosed at 2-3 months with Gerd. So if your baby seems like they have a lot of gas pain or spits up more than the average baby. Talk to your Peditrician for treatments.

My husband was always concerned about my daughter. She always got the hiccups about 3 - 4 times a day. It got better as she got older. She still gets them but not everyday.

Hiccups are a spasm of the diaphram, I recently read in a magazine that if you blow in your babies face or take them into the cold it can stop them because it causes baby to gasp and that stops the hiccups.

Their muscle structure is changing, improving.

The only thing that will get rid of those hiccups in a baby is:

To feed him/her a little more. (my doc told me this).

Hiccups are VERY VERY common, and nothing to worry about!

My daughter gets hiccups all the time too. Don't worry, it's normal. It's because their little systems are still new and trying to get used to all the things they have to do. It'll probably be most prominant after he/she has just had a good feeding and has been burped. That's when mine usually gets it. Don't worry, it'll go away in time.

You get hiccups when you don't breath just right and it's your body's way of regulating breathing. Absolutely nothing to worry about. Although it can get aggravating for you, the baby doesn't even care. He/she will learn to breath better in their own time and they should diminish, or at least slow down. No worries. :)
