Okay.
I have a Florida condo in Lake Buena Vista in Orland, FLorida!!!!! This has many amenities and we won it in a live auction fundraiser auction. We're asking $750 for releasing the condo. I don't know if this is too much, if not, please email me: alco19357@yahoo.com for more information. This is also on Craigslist in the Rochester, NY area.
This link is to the Craigslist ad in Rochester: http://rochester.craigslist.org/tix/276989548.html
This is good for April and has all the amenitites and information here. Remember, it's Orlando Flordia too!
I think you'd love this, you and your family. And it's a great place for kids since it's in the world's greatest amusement and entertainment center!!!
Good luck with your quest
Alex

My husband and I are also on a very limited budget, so I know exactly how you feel. We have been together ten years and have pretty much stayed at home almost the entire time because of budget constraints. However, in the next few months, we are planning to go to a lakeside campground for a few days. They have several different types of accomodations with different price ranges. They have waterfront cottages, waterfront cabins (basically the same thing as the cottage, except a one room cabin- they both have covered porches with views of the lake), kitchenettes, efficiencies, and motel rooms off the water. Most of the rooms have kitchens, so you can bring your own food to help cut down on expenses. They also have RV spaces. They have boat ramps, a fishing pier, a convenience store onsite, and a restaurant nearby. All very cheap if you are willing to make the drive to East Texas. Someone else mentioned New Orleans- this is not all that much further. They are changing their name from Twin Dikes Marina Resort to Sam Rayburn Marina Resort. Also a great place to bring children if you're so inclined. If you decide you want to go, you need to reserve a room early because they fill up fast. You'll have to pay a deposit on your room for them to hold it for you, and pay the remainder when you arrive. If you don't have a credit card, you can still reserve a room by sending them a check or money order. All you have to do is call and ask them for their mailing address. Here is their website if you want more info. They have pictures of all the rooms and beautiful scenery. That's what sold me (that and the price, lol).

Book a week at an ALL INCLUSIVE resort. There are some pretty nice one's south of Cancun Mexico and all over the Carribean. For under $3000 you can stay for a week, swim, play, and all your meals & alcohol are included! You leave the room and all you need is your room key and wrist band! It really is the best way to go because otherwise you're going to spend a couple hundred bucks a day on a room and at least $100-$150 a day on food! And if you're like us, you could spend $100-$200 a day on alcohol alone if you're sociable people and make friends at the poolside bar! Go online and check out some of the all inclusive packages they have running! After spending $5000 in Hawaii despite having free airline tickets AND a free room for 10 days, it's the only way I'll go again!

well, sit down and think of something that you both really love. It sounds like you could use a getaway with limited entertainment (*wink wink*). I would do an internet search of performers or bands that you would like to see, sports events, etc. Print out the tour schedule or team schedule, and highlight the ones nearby. then compare dates, you may find that there are 2 events within days in the same city.
Ok, so you've narrowed it down. now search for the local newspaper in that city. find out where the good restaurants are. As far as hotel, try an inexpensive hotel that serves breakfast.
For the trip itself, pack a cooler with fun stuff for your romantic getaway. Make chocolate covered strawberries. Bring your fav. beverages. When you get to your destination, hit a supermarket to pick up some snacks (and beer or wine if you want it) for the hotel room.
My sweety and i go on a road trip every year, but we put our own twist on this idea... we actually plan our pit stops around restaurants that we dont have at home... like white castle, popeyes, etc. We have a tradition that we go to see a new MLB ballpark every year (ok, so we've only been to 4 so far) and our whole trip ends up being around 500-800 dollars.

Go to www.sandals.com and take a look @ their all-inclusive packages. They should have rates and rooms on their website, and lots of pictures. There are many different islands you can go to. Jamaica, Antigua, St. Lucia and the Bahamas. They also do free "Wedding Moons" that you and your husband can book, at a special rate. You also can have a wedding down there, renew your vows, and it will be beautiful. They aren't too expensive, but I don't know what your budget is. I know it costs roughly about 1500-2000 per person, but as I said above, it is an all inclusive resort meaning that everything (including gratuity) is included. Meals, alcohol, tips, watersports, land sports, golf, room service, etc. They do offer lots of extras, but they aren't necessary. I hope it helps!!! Have fun!

Alabama ... hmm. Well you'd probably have to fly there, but have you considered Quebec? Montreal and Quebec City are fantastic, the prices are quite reasonable, and you'll really feel like you are in Europe since French is the main language. However, you won't have the expensive, long flight to Europe. In Montreal, almost everyone is bilingual French/English. In Quebec City, it is much more French. From what I understand, Quebec City is one of two cities in North America that is walled (Mexico City is the other, I think). It is truly impressive! Summer and autumn are the best times to visit.
Good luck!

if you are in Alabama, New Orleans is not too terribly far. You can definately drive there.
hit up the slots at the casinos. hit up the french quarter. The hotels are cheap there because they are still in recovery but it is still pretty fun.
leave the kid with friends or fams.
ummm. Florida aint bad if you are up for a bit of a longer drive. Miami is hot. Boca. Tampa. Orlando.
uhmmmm.
If you up for a road trip you could also hit the North Carolina coast. The beaches there are nice.

Doesn't matter even if you have no honeymoon or vacation since your marriage.Surprise your disabled child with a loving gift out of your budget for honeymoon.
You will find more pleasure than a honeymoon.

Camping and bicycling near wooded areas and beaches. Hiking and exploring state parks. A weekend at a decent motel with a jacuzzi room with candles and a couple of bottles of Austi Spumante near a beach. Just a couple cheap ideas.

you have your hands full and i commend you for your wanting to stay with your child, and i know how hard it is for couples to have some alone time......find a hotel that is within your budget and go out of town, say to the next town, and just be together...you do not have to spend like a wild ape out of the zoo to have fun, w eekend trips will make you feel as though you have been away for a month, as long as you and hubby are able to relax
