this is a trick my dad told me about to catch rodents, i tried it when my hamster ecsaped and it worked for me. get a 2 gallon bucket and tape a like 3 or 4 layers of newspaper over the top of it, then cut 2 slits about 4 inches long in the shape of an X in the center of the paper. put a board going up to it as a ramp then when they go up onto it they will fall into the bucket and since they can jump they will be trapped. i used drops of honey to make the seed stick to the paper and the ramp . plus it took a couple nights for it to work...Oh dont forget some shavings in the bucket to cushion the fall

Oh my, I have one question did you try to look for your hamsters when they became the escape artists. :-). How are all the hamsters in your basement surviving? They must know where to find food at. I say it could be a sign of something. I suggest you try to collect all the hamsters or they will just keep multiplying. Best of luck to you. If you have to get those animal traps that do not harm the animals and see if you can catch them. They will over run your house.

If indeed you have a bunch of hamsters loose in your house - you better do something NOW! Because you have many many pairs of males and females, and if they have a good food source, 100 will be only the top of the iceberg! Find the food source and call an exterminator - it may sound cruel, but you don't want the 100 (or even 10) to be given more time to procreate - it will be an exponential increase each generation (every couple months).

Maybe just fast reproduction! If you want them gone a lot of people might get on your case if you poison them since they are hamsters not rats but you could trap them or have an exterminater come. You can get a small hav-a-hart trap for rodents and place food in it and once they go in they are trapped and you can get rid of them as you please. I have never really heard of hamsters getting out and it's strange they would have survived because hamsters are so much easier to kill for other rats and mice. I hope you find a way to fix your problem...

You probably want to get rid of them, as they are rodents and like to chew apart wooden objects such as the framework of your house and anything wooden you have stored in the basement. How you should get rid of them I'm not sure...maybe a live trap?

Anyway, I can tell you right now it's not a sign from God.

This has to be a joke. What the hell are they eating?

Get a professional involved today. If this is a real problem your basement must be foul.

Good lord, you could start with a shovel and a bucket. Get to work.
