I thought the Odyssey was better - more personal, more vivid, and less of those never-ending descriptions.

Definitely the Odyssey It's more about the human experience. The Iliad is great in ways, but there isn't a lot of depth or growth in the characters. Telemachos, Penelope, and Odysseus are presented much more closely as realistic people without destroying their "mythic" standing. The Odysseus just seems so well put together too; if you wanted to believe in a single poet, Homer, creating this epic, one of the things that augments this ideal is that the Odyssey seems like the advanced work of the master poet and the Iliad kinda of just a warm up (don't hurt me Iliad fanatics!).

Def the illiad. its much more descriptive and i like how the gods are intertwined much more in this novel. They are shown more as characters then as godly figures.
