Does anyone believe in the heart rate predicting the sex of the baby? Any stories? Do you believe it is a boy or girl?

It's a myth, although it's fun to try to predict the baby's sex with this and other common methods.

A normal fetal heart rate is between 110 and 160 beats per minute (bpm), although some people think if it's faster (usually above the 140 bpm range) it's a girl and if it's slower it's a boy. But there have been no studies that conclusively show that heart rate is a predictor for a baby's gender. Your baby's heart rate will probably differ from prenatal visit to prenatal visit anyway - depending on the age of the fetus and activity level at the time of the visit.

Here is a link to other "homemade" ways to determine the sex of your baby. Have fun!

Its alot of old wives tales and your dr will tell you that too. My daughter had a heart rate of 130s but I knew she was a girl I just had the gut feeling {plus the old wives tale of carrying high, lol} And my son who is now 9 months old had a heart rate of 140s-150s

Girls TEND to have higher heart rates in utero than boys, but that's not always the case. My first sister never would uncross her legs on the ultrasound, and her heart rate was on the low side, so we all thought she'd be a boy. Surprise! So there's no way to know 100% til after birth.

My first midwife "believed" in the higher heartrate = a girl theory. The tech doing the ultrasound said that theory and flipping a coin give the same results: 50/50.

I did end up having a girl and her heartrate was always in the 150s. Of course, it was probably just coincidence.

I did with my first two, but with my third the heart rate suggested a girl and 3 ultra sounds thought it was a girl, and then I had a SON!

A babys heart beat is usually fast regarless of the sex. A heart beat that strong is a very healthy heart.

Sorry hun, that's an old wives tale. You will have to wait for the ultrasound. My medical coding instructor believes in predicting the gender that way, but it's not accurate.
