honesty - being completly honest even at the risk of upsetting the friend,
Being reliable - my good friend knows when she needs me anytime day or night i'll be there
doesn't matter where- my best friend in the world lives 150 miles away since i moved away 4 years ago - miss her terribly but she is still the best freind i ever had
listening- really listening and thinking before you answer
forgiveness - being able to forgive when they are out of order
HAVING FUN - you really need to be able to have sucha good laugh and know what the other wants without having to ask -

A good friend is someone you can discuss your problems with, share your innermost thoughts with. Someone you can phone at 1am because you are troubled.
The best quality in a good friend is being a good listener. People know by eye contact and body language whether you are attentative to their problem or not.
But most of all, a good friend will be there when you need them.

just to be there for your friend in the bad times and in the good, it's also 50 - 50 in friendship your friend needs to be there for you too in the bad times when you have a crises and in the good times.
