Answer: Solute
The following definition will resolve your confusion:
a. Solute - is the dissolved phase in a solution
b. Solvent - is the dispersion medium in a solution
c. Precipitate - is the solid product of a chemical reaction
d. Solution - is the result when a solute and solvent are mixed together.
Remark:
Carbon dioxide becomes the dissolved phase while water in the beverage is the solvent.
Disregard the other ingredients because they are so minute as compared to carbon dioxide and water.
Technically speaking, the solute is composed of the mixture of all the ingredients taken as a whole.

The solute is the thing being dissolved - just the carbon dioxide gas.

The solvent is the beverage itself as it dissolves the carbon dioxide.

There is no precipitate (which is something that is forced out of the solution as it cannot be dissolved any longer).

The solution is both the carbon dioxide and the beverage together.

So the description of the carbon dioxide that is dissolved into a beverage is that it is "solute" (it is the thing that is dissolved into a solvent).

I hope this helps?!

It is a) solute.

Rather than just give an answer, here's an explanation of the terms you've listed.

Reason:
a) solute - something that is dissolved in something else.
b) solvent - the medium within which the solute is dissolved.
c) precipitate - following a chemical reaction, the production of something which is not soluble in the solvent. For example, testing for carbon dioxide using a solution of water and calcium hydroxide. The calcium hydroxide is soluble in water. When carbon dioxide is added a chemical reaction occurs which produced calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate is much less soluble in water than the hydroxide so the solution will turn cloudy as the carbonate is "precipitated" out of the solution.
d) solution - a mixture of solvent and its solutes. (e.g. a soft drink sugar and carbon dioxide dissolved in the water).

If I remember my chemistry right, the carbon dioxide would be the solute, the water the solvent.

Since the carbon dioxide is DISSOLVED, it is the solute
