I am a Wes Anderson fan, and I Loved Rushmore, but was not really thrilled with the Royal Tenenbaums. Knowing that do you think this movie is closer to Rushmore like or Tenenbaums-ish?

Rushmore is a classic and Tenenbaums was pretty good. What makes Anderson's films good is that all the characters are interesting and that they all have their own unique personality.
Life Aquatic is all about Billy Murray. While he is brilliant in many roles, he can also be so annoying that you can't even finish the movie (Broken Flowers).
Anyway, to answer your question, Life aquatic is one of those annoying movies. Not very entertaining or interesting in any way.
have you seen "Bottle Rocket" that was his first movie. You would like it.

I'd say closer to .... well not really close to anything. Very Wes Andersonish - some points of brilliance but it meanders a bit at parts. Just watching Bill Murray got me though the meandering parts.
(BTW, I liked Rushmore a lot more and really loved Tenenbaums),

I thought "The Life Aquatic" was pretty awful. I admire Bill Murray, and I sort of get what he was trying to do, but I absolutely do NOT get the fascination with Wes Anderson.

if you didn't like the royal tenenbaums, i would dare say you wouldn't like Life Aquatic.

I don't know where you live but I saw this movie in the TV guide just today-maybe on one of the HBO or movie channels. I have never seen it, only heard it was boring.It is on STARZ today at 1:00pm.

no this movie is not worth renting, if you want to see it catch it on one of the movie channels for free I think that it is on Starz this month
