Because if you say yes they got what they wanted. No need for fuss there.
However if you say no and they want something then they will make you feel guilty for it.
Simple really, however you'll find they quickly forget you said no when they want something again.
How about from now on you keep a chart?
" I said yes to you Tuesday on the 13th of Feb 12:40 regarding giving you a left to the gym, and then again at 12:45 to picking you up from the gym and taking up to MacDonald's for a Big Mac that I paid for. total sum £9:24"

I know what you mean. My boyfriend is always running errands for his mother or helping her around the house, but 5 minutes later she will start an argument and throw in his face the comment "after everything I've gone for you". She does next to nothing for him, yet he continues to run around for her and gets no appreciation for his trouble. If she is looking for thanks for bringing him into the world, I don't agree with any parent doing that. If you look for the word negative in the dictionary, there's probably a picture of her.

I think (yes in a geordie way) that its maybe because you have been too soft in the past and when you say no it comes as a shock to the person you say no to.

Because if you said yes to many times in the past they know that you will hardly ever say no - and are shocked when you do
they expect it when you always do what they want

Broadly because we are rather self-centred. We assume people will say yes, and so it does not register when they do.
When our will is thwarted we revert to infancy and take a strop,
THERE IS A LOT OF GROWING UP TO DO.
YOU COULD SET AN EXAMPLE....YOU MIGHT START A REVOLUTION!!
