Odd question, but I think that it's inevitable that the internet as we know it will fade away into a next generation network (I2) - from there government bodies will begin to increasingly monitor and control access and content. Similar to how the FCC regulates airwaves, watch for government interference in next generation systems. The existing internet will not accomodate needs of the future.
