Not at all. Go ahead. "Engagement" has little or no legal aspect to it at all. If you get engaged, and then bugger off, then you might get a "breach of promise" case against you. But if your parrot is a close friend and you want to get engaged there is nothing to stop. you. If you later split up then your parrot will need good lawyers (not bird brains) to help him/her. I would take the risk....

I am not sure about the legal aspect but you might find this amusing...
An old man is on a bus sitting opposite a punk with piercings, orange and green multicoloured hair. After a while the punk says; "why are you staring at me like that grandad; did you never do anything wild when you were young ?"
the old man says "yes I did actually; once I fucked a parrot and I am now wondering if you are my son".

Serious answer? OK... OK... Actually, I think it would be legal, IF the parrot gave consent (depends on how well it could talk, and if it can construct its own sentences rather than copy). Also, I doubt your parrot is old enough to get married. If it gave consent and it is old enough, I don't see why not.

Getting engaged isn't a problem but finding somewhere to marry might be.A word of advice, make sure your parrot really is the one for you before you make any final decision.

Strange question but the obvious answer is yes. marriage must be consumated by sex and engagement means you will be married. In order for your parrot to not file for divorce, you would need to have sex with it and bestiality is illegal. So YES, it's illegal.

I don't think it would be illegal to get engaged, however marriage might be a different story. Speak to your local citizens advice bureau they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Of course not. You just go right ahead and ask but don't be too surprised if the parrot rejects you.

i don't think that engagement is legally binding or recognized by the law in general. its more of a social concept. you can tell whoever you please that you plan to marry your parrot, and the police would never come and get you in the night, unfortunately, you cleary crave the human contact.

No, it's perfectly legal as long as the parrot gives written consent.
