We call them Snow Birds because they fly south from places like Canada,Michigan,North Dakota, Maine etc. to avoid the severe Snowy winter. Most of them have white hair, you know like Q tips or Snow, so they are Snow Birds. I just made that last part up. I guess we could call them Q tip Birds but that would be silly. Hope you liked my answer.

Birds migrate in the fall to avoid the snows.Just like mostly retired
seniors from the northern states and Canada travel south for the
warmer climate and to avoid the snow

My grandparents have been 'snow birds' forever. It just means that they 'migrate' like birds = they move to warmer weather when it gets cold. They lived in Utah for like a million years and whenever it would get cold, they would head south. I think Texas and Florida must just be places they end up because it's warmer than where they started. :-)

The snow birds are the ones that live up north in the summer and come down here when it gets cold because their arthritis acts up in the winter.

We call them that in AZ as well, and it's basically because seasonally the folks from the north migrate south for the winter. : )
