I am currently a teacher and have been considering a career change. Just not sure what I could do and have the same security I have and make at least the same amount of money. Any ideas?

I change careers completely last year. Finally decided that I really really don't want a desk job anymore!! I want to be outside! I'm an experienced gardener, and decided I'd rather do something related to that.

So I bugged the guy who hires at a fabulous nursery nearby for 5 months. He finally hired me last September - directly into 'trees, shrubs, and perennials' (found out later almost EVERYONE starts out loading mulch and stuff - so I must have done something right).

It's not as much money as I used to make, but I often find myself smiling and humming while I work. I'm actually HAPPY - even at work. So the money will come - as I don't think I'll be desparate to change jobs anytime soon - the pay raises will come, so it'll gradually get better.

I can't tell you how much better life is, having work that you enjoy...wahtever it is. You don't HAVE to hate your job! Think about what you would like to do - and go after it!

This is sure nough a pointer to ponder. Wait a minute maybe isn't even her pointer that was bitten off. Mmm, well now that I thunk it over a minute the chile oughta be what ever she wants. If hand modeling is her hearts desire encourage that young un. She could model rubber gloves or do catalog work with winter mittens. We has us a friend on here with simply beautiful purple gloves that would probly give tips on this young girls career choice. Wish her good luck step mommy and stand back and watch this chile suceed!

I too have concidered this and am still at odds what to do. I currently earn a decent income and realise i would have to get a degree to have my prefered career choice. I know it will be stressful at first but I've been told to follow my dreams...........maybe you should too.

could you work for Kaplan or as an educational consultant for text books? Would you be able to work for a consulting company or work for a hospital as a teacher?
