Tiffany is my life. I have a million things from them, and not one thing has ever tarnished. And i've had some things for years on end. If you bought this ring, from a site like ebay.com... Its more the likely fake. A lot of sellers arn't respectable. If you bought it from the store, you want to make sure its not costume jewlrey because then that could of caused tarnish.
But yes, if you go to any jewler they should be able to tell you wether it is fake or not. Or just go back to Tiffany's themselves.

If it tarnished it is NOT Tiffany. I have never seen a gold or platinum ring tarnish. And I have both. Silver will tarnish. Although some silvers are better than others. Take it to a reputable jeweler and ask them to appraise it for you, for insurance purposes.

i cant tell from the picture if it is real of course but a tiffany & co ring shouldnt tarnish unless with the packaging it said dress jewellry whereas sometimes with dress jewellry as it is not meant to be worn alot it can tarnish i suggest to go to the jewellers and ask their opinion if it is real either that or look for a hallmark xx

Every metal tarnishes regardless of what it's being used for, where it came from and who crafted it into what.
You can get really good jewellery polishes very easily these days. I had one where all you had to do was soak the ring in it for 2 minutes and it would come out gleaming.
As for the picture, I really can't tell, it's too small to see clearly, sorry.
