Normally you are told to wait a year. If you have ever had irregular periods (for any reason) - or are over a certain age - many doctors will still suggest a year- but also say after 6 months to come in because it may be more difficult for you to conceive. Good luck!

It can take 6 months or more after coming off birth control pills for your body to reestablish fertility. Those hormones can really take a lot out of your body and wreck your fertility cycles. If I'm not mistaken, the package insert on the pill suggests waiting 6 months after discontinuing use to conceive.

If you were on the pill, you need to boost your B-vitamin and folate intake. The pill takes that out of your system. It would also be good to prepare your body for a healthy pregnancy by focusing on nutrition now. The Weston Price website has some great info on women's nutrition, especially for women trying to conceive.

I highly recommend charting your fertility signs BEFORE seeing a doctor. Doctors often want to either do nothing or jump right to invasive testing and/or medications. All fertility treatments have risks and should only be used when aboslutely necessary. Many women who have had trouble conceiving have gone on to conceive easily w/ charting.

Many, if not most, women do NOT have textbook cycles. You need to know when YOU are ovulating and when (or if) you have fertile cervical fluid. You can tell those things and so much more by charting your fertility signs. It can help you time intercourse for a better chance of conceiving and if there are any issues which are delaying or preventing conception/carrying the pregnancy. Many issues can also be resolved quite easily and naturally.

Some good sources: Fertilityfriend.com (free software as well as a pay-for version and on-line charting turorial); ovusoft.com (discussion boards for many fertility related issues, much info on fertility after the pill, and a very good software for purchase). The books Taking Charge of Your Fertility (associated w/ the the ovusoft website and software) and Garden of Fertility.

This depends on a lot of things. What type of birth control you were using, and how old you are. If you were on birth control pills, and are under 30, I am surprised you are not pregnant yet. If you were on the depo shot, it usually takes a year for it to get out of your system depending on how long you have been on it. Doctors want you to be actively trying for one year. A couple of things you can try : I know its hard but try not to stress about it, After your cycle have sexual intercourse at least every other day. If you cannot relax my doc. said to try and take a warm bath with candles, and also if you like wine, drink one glass to calm your nerves.

most literature says if you have not conceived within a year of trying see your doctor, which im a bit sketchy on. it took me and my partner 18 moths to conceive the child im carrying just now and we are both young and healthy. everyone is different. if you are worried about it then by all means see a dr however if you are anything like me and just impatient, try a little longer and itll happen for you. good luck!

I even have been attempting for 10 months and began taking Clomid final month. If I had wide-unfold it replaced into going to take this long, i might have began taking it an prolonged time in the past!!!! My physician informed me the whole assorted births element is rubbish and there is not any evidence Clomid might reason that !!!! stable good fortune

If your under 35 yrs. one year. If your above 35, then no more than 6 mths. I've travelled this road before, it took my hubby and I 3yrs. to concieve our oldest(with the help of Clomid, I was pregnant with twins, lost one). And wouldn't you know it, 3yrs. later we concieved naturally,(no outside help!)much to our surprise!!! Good luck and Best wishes!

I would wait a full year before you start asking your doctor.

You are not considered "infertile" until you have actively tried to concieve for one full year. So, that's how long I would wait if I were you.
