At the link below they have awesome training videos on how to use different game engines to make games. Some kids used the Quake engine (Free via the GPL) from ID software to make a game. They sold it one holiday season and made over 1 million dollars. You can use the engine, but you must create all the art work and map levels yourself. Great gift to humanity from ID software.

My friend is making a video game and she has this book to help her along the way. It has a LOT of pages, but she says it has been really helpful. So my advice would be to get a book about how to make videogames, and if yours is really good, you could sell it to Sony!!
