In his novel, "1984," George Orwell painted a haunting picture of a totalitarian government and a war that lasted forever, against a shifting enemy. Now it's 2007, and the world is fighting a borderless, seemingly endless "war on terror" that shifts territories. In "1984," there was no privacy and "Big Brother Is Watching You." They say that an average person is caught on video tape at least ten times a day. My office is continually monitored. I'm probably watched 100 times a day or more. In "I984," the "thought police" monitored people for "wrongthinking." Now we have moral pundits from all sides. You're either too "liberal" or too "conservative." In "1984," people talked in "double talk" and "newspeak." We have a President who denies "global warming" and insists people call it "climate change." He mouths meaningless platitudes like "We must stay the course" and "Axis of Evil." How close are we to fulfilling Orwell's prophecies?

Excellent question. Maybe it will make a few people begin to think.

I am afraid that it may be getting close to the point of no return. The New World Order is coming, and I hope it is not too late to stop it, but I am beginning to think that it might be!!!

In Manhattan, there is a video camera on almost every street light post and almost every doorway in the rich areas. Orwell's prediction about Europe, nevertheless, hasn't come true. Europe is still a bunch of small countries with no will to unite to form a huge country with a population of 1/2 billion. As far as newspeak, propaganda is the only means to communicate to the masses. The masses need to be reassured everything is okay and we are the best in the world. That way folks are pleased with themselves and their opinions, knowing that they are the best this world has to offer.

You obviously haven't seen what happens in North Korea. If you want to see what Orwell was predicting, look a the mess that Kim Jong Il has set up.

Here's a song for you. "Acute Schizophrenia Paranoia Blues" by the Kinks

I'm too terrified to walk out of my own front door,
They're demonstrating outside I think they're gonna start the third world war,
I've been to my local head shrinker,
To help classify my disease,
He said it's one of the cases of acute schizophrenia he sees.

Well the milkman's a spy, and the grocer keeps on following me,
And the woman next door's an undercover for the K.G.B.,
And the man from the Social Security
Keeps on invading my privacy,
Oh there ain't no cure for acute schizophrenia disease.

I've got acute schizophrenia, paranoia too,
Schizophrenia, schizophrenia,
I've got it, you've got it, we can't lose,
Acute schizophrenia blues.

I'm lost on the river, the river of no return,
I can't make decisions, I don't know which way I'm gonna turn,
Even my old dad, lost some of the best friends he ever had,
Apparently, his was a case of acute schizophrenia too.

I got acute schizophrenia, paranoia too,
Schizophrenia, schizophrenia,
I've got it, you've got it, we can't lose,

They're watching my house and they're tapping my telephone,
I don't trust nobody, but I'm much too scared to be on my own
And the income tax collector's got his beady eye on me,
No there ain't no cure for acute schizophrenia disease
