I use AVG free as a general virus software which scans my computer every day automatically as well as updates, it gets rid of viruses and trojans and worms and stuff. For spyware, I used to use Spybot Search & Destroy (also free), but over the last year it has not been picking up anything, so I don't know if that is because it does not work anymore or if it's because I am blocking spyware better. There is also an online scan called Trend Micro which isn't software, but you can bookmark the website and run it every so often yourself. I used to have a pop-up blocker, but I haven't been having pop-ups anymore, and my Internet Explorer seems to block pop-ups automatically (through Active-X, though I'm not sure what this is, I think it came with a Windows automatic update).
Also, download.com is a good place to start to search for programs to download. You can find the ones above by searching this site for "AVG" and "Spybot" and they will be the first ones that pop up on the results. The Trend Micro site is below.
It's also good to make sure you download your Windows updates, go to the website and make sure you download them automatically, as this is the best way to keep your computer's security up-to-date for preventative maintenance.

Okay, a free fix is toss the computer.. Just kidding..
But this will take some time..
First off lets get the spyware off.
I recommend "Hijackthis",you can find this on download.com. Once you run that, you will have to remove alot of the "Suspicous Software"
This may take several attempts to get it cleared off.
Reboots etc, this does modify the registry, if there are things you don't know what they are I would just copy the syntax and put it into google, and see what they are.
After that, we need some Antivirus on this machine, if you want something free, AVG, its free. Symantec/McAfee are a bit better but are about 50 dollars per copy.
Finally,
I would download Windows Defender, This will help protect you in the future from getting more spyware etc.
just go to the Microsoft website and check it out.

Run your anti-spyware in Safe Mode.If you have no an excellent anti-spyware or your current anti-spyware can't prevent spyware from invading you computer,download a better one.

You can download and scan your PC for free.
As the computer is booting press your "F8 Key" repeatly which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" . Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.
After into safe mode,run a anti-spyware to killllllllll the spyware and adware on you pc.

Use Zone Labs Internet Security Suite. To me its the best. It really can search and destroy spywares and viruses.

ignore those pop ups. i downloaded a couple of those that popped up on mine and it turned out that all they were was spyware. i had to delete them all from my computer. go to microsoft. com and there you can find software that will scan your computer for free and let you know what needs to be fixed and removed. hope this helps!
